Connect to SBS 2008 – Outlook 2010 hangs “not responding”
Computer1 – Existing Win7 pro computer with Office 2010 connected via “connect” to SBS 2008. Computer2 - Newly installed Win7 Pro setup with Office 2010 with outlook emails created and worked fine.
The workstations are set with DNS and different IP’s. One is a x64 the other is 32 bit installs.
Connect is done with existing username on computer2. All seems well but outlook now doesn’t have any email addresses. I tried it 3 slightly different ways after doing a recovery just before executing “connect”. All 3 had the same result Outlook stopped responding.
1st was straight forward by just create the new email address as usually. Outlook hangs (not responding) never finishing after a long wait.
2nd Reduced size by about 30% of .pst files by del emails before moved/copied .pst to folder Outlook Folder after “connect”. Then tried to create outlook addresses with the same outcome Outlook stopped responding. Before I tried “connect” I exported (computer1) and imported (computer2) the email addresses without any problem. So was working with smaller .pst files.
3rd Created new user account name2 then moved/copied .pst to folder “Outlook Folder”. Same thing Outlook stopped responding.
Why in the world wouldn’t “connect” not move the Outlook files? And force creating new email addresses? I thought it purpose was to syn the account to the server as it does with My Doc’s. I could understand they weren’t both Microsoft products.
