In the server console under security it show me that BPA is reporting 3 errors all of which I have exluded in BPA.
The server is running with 2 NIC cards everything is functioning OK but BPA doesnt like a few things.
How can I stop the server consiole from seeing the excluded items in BPA.
At the moment its showing critical when i know its OK.
All 3 errors are to do with DNS and that is working fine for our internal PC's

Active Directory replication is taking longer than expected. You can choose whether to continue waiting.
I am using the migration document from Microsoft. I have started the SBS 2011 with the answer file with the migration option turned on.
It has run for hours. When the error message comes up, I selected 'continue to wait'. The hard drive continues to flash but after running overnight, it still has not completed.
The SBS 2003 does list the new server but that's about all that I can add.

I've had a couple of SBS 2011 boxes freeze randomly. This freeze always occurs when the installed backup technology (Backup Exec or Shadowprotect) kicks off.
Doing some diggin I noticed that in SBS 2011 there is a 'backup' that occurs every hour, on the hour and lasts for 10 minutes. I suspect that the VSS fight that goes on between the two backup techs is what's causing the server to freeze, so I've changed my installed backup schedule to be on the half hour.
But what IS this backup? It's not in scheduled tasks, nothing appears in the custom backup logs, it's not configured in Windows backup, sharepoint, anwhere. All I get is an event on the hour int he Application log saying 'brick level backup started' and then one ten minutes later saying it's stopped.
It's also not on on the Windows 2008 R2 servers I've built so it's definately a Small Bizo thing.
So: what is it? How can I stop it?

To allow the automated backup of more than 10PCs to Essentials. I would need to turn off the DC on Essentials, plus any other role that would interfere with SBS.
SBS would be required to retain all roles.
Friday one of our salesman asked about RWA. I attempted a login but it failed. At the time of the failure there was a whole bunch of WAS errors. Then immediately all of the users outside of the local subnet no longer have internet access.
We are running the network over an MPLS that spans 5 offices. 4 of the offices have their internet access back hauled to the head office. All 4 offices still have local access to the SBS Server, but no web. I had the MPLS checked at the carrier and they reported all of the routes clear back to the SBS Server. I have been working all weekend on this via a GoTo MyPC account on one of the head office workstations. All of my routes in Routing and Remote Access are still there.
Any Ideas?
Hi, I am trying to upgrade from SBS 2003 SP2 with Exchange sp2, to SBS 2011.

I installed all updates (other then IE 8) and I've rebooted many times.
Download BPA v2 and this comes up with Error can't find "MyBusiness OU not found on Windows sbs sever"
This did already exist in AD Users & Computers with all sub groups (originally created by SBS install),
but I followed listed article 2578426, I renamed existing OU and created items again clean (using exact same case & structure as aritcle).
Ran 2011 migration wizard and it stops with same "MyBusiness OU not found" error and no other issuses / warnings.
The server has been running slow but the event logs are clean except when I run 2011 migration wizard, I get...

It's a long story so I will try and keep it to the point, had to do a firmware upgrade to a Sonicwall TZ100w firewall, reset it at the same time, all seemed to go OK (did it in the office but it's a remote site). Couple of days later got a call some sites were slow loading everything else seemed fine. Travelled to the site was in a rush, did not follow best practice and started making changes without recording them. Turns out the slow site loading problem was a Sonicwall MTU problem sorted that out after a while but not before I made changes to there SBS 2011 server, mostally its DNS settings and that is where the trouble starts.
I am new to Servers it's not my fulltime job, I do them because I know the most about them compaired to the other staff and management.
Problems are
Sharepoint works externally but not internally (from the office)
Outlook anywhere works externally but not internally
windows update cannot check for updates (the server knows it has missing updates but cannot install them) see print screens
In the last couple of days they have reported that the network shares are not working, when they click on them (the shares) the computer asks for a username and password but no matter what is entered it rejects them.
I have included a print screen of the server event logs, there have always been a few events in the log but the machine worked perfectly up to last week.
I am not convinced that the Sonicwall is still not to blame but I can’t be sure as I did alter the DNS (mostly) on the SBS machine, I have been on to Sonicwall support but they can’t find an error remotely I have tried to send them logs three times but they say they have not received them. I mostly added other forwarding DNS servers to Exchange and IIS but I can’t remember where exactly. Guys I know I have dug my own hole on this one but any advice would be greatly appreciated as the managers are now putting pressure on me and my main work is failing behind. <o:p></o:p>

I restarted my SBS2008 server, and I cannot log in.
"There are no domain controllers available to service the logon request"
I am able to login using the local administrator (I think this is the recovery account), I notice that the following services failed to start...
Active Directory Domain Services
DNS Server
Software Licensing Service
Various Exchange Services (due to the AD not starting)
Nothing has changed, no updates have been applied, network settings have not changed.
Totally stumped. Luckily I was able to revert to a live snapshot I took prior to restarting the server, as it is running as a ESXi VM.
I tried to recover using a backup from the previous day, looks like all my backups have this problem also!
Therefore something is wrong with the current running state of my server which I cannot see, nothing in the logs, it is running fine, until I restart it, then its buggered!
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

In SBS 2003 I was able to insert Incoming Faxes on the front page so that all faxes were visible once company web loaded.
How do I do it in SBS 2011? The only thing I figured out was how to move parent folder Fax Center...

A customer want to be able to have all users access all computers (not only his own) with RWW. Domain Admin can access every computer but I dont want to assign computers for all users manually. Any group membership or other way to do this?

We are a small office with three client computers that access our server with SBS Essential 2011. The launchpad application was working fine for access to the server and back up access until our server port numbers were changed. Now the launchpad
app cannot connect from the individual machines to the server. Is there a way to update the launchpad app to "re-point" to the server? I can't find any settings or set-up for the launchpad.
My main reason for getting the launchpad working again is that I can't restore files from each computer on the server- I get the an error message saying that "files must be restored from the client computer." I can only restore files backed up from the server directly.
On a side note- we have set the back-up range (through the wizard) set to keep 14 days worth of back-ups, but it never does. It keeps a range that changes from 6-8 days. I have searched through the forums to find an answer, but can't seem to see any reason why it changes the available back-ups. I can try to give you more information on our system, but I am not an IT professional, so I apologize for my lack of proper terminology!

I currently have a smart host setup, but would like to move away from this. I had another thread opened about this but nothing was resolved. I have done some in depth investigating and I watched the connectivity logs and my server just keeps repeating Established
connection but never connects, the mail just sits in my queue with a 421 4.4.2 Connection Dropped error. I can send to many other email address's but there is about 12 I cannot send to this includes hotmail.com, aol.com, msn.com, I am able to send to my gmail
account just fine. I can post the logs, any help is much appreciated.

I have machine on my network that controls a plate cutter. The manufacturer requires UVNC for access.
I am running SBS2011. It is connected to the web via a Cisco router.
I can't seem to get the SBS to forward requests for port 5900 to the machine.
I have verified that the Cisco and the SBS firewalls are not blocking UVNC.
The machine is on a static IP with a specific exclusion from the DHCP range.
It is also not a member of the domain. I have entered the machine in to DNS with an A and PTR record.
A port query from the outside returns "NOT LISTENING".
This connection worked before the SBS2011.
Any ideas?
I'm running SBS 2003 Premium, and have been working out a few problems that have been noted from the Best Practices Analyzer.
A critical issue states that, "ClientApps share is missing". Now I've gone through all the steps to verify that not only is it there, but it's being shared as well. But for some reason it still continues to come up as the number one critical item. Is there something else that could be effecting this issue somewhere else on the server?
And to relate to the "ClientApps" issue, I'm getting the same issue with my "Sysvol folder is not shared" critical issue as well. I've gone through multiple steps into verifying that both these issues were addressed, but they will not correct when I run the "Best Practices Analyzer".
I'm going to be trying to migrate to newer equipment and software in the next 6 months, but I know if these are not addressed, then migration will be a headache. So what am I missing?

I have a scenario with a customer where they have a new server waiting to be installed. At present they have a SBS2011 STD license.
They have an immediate need for an RDS server as well. In 6-12months time their LOB software will be converting to SQL.
I don't think the new server is man enough to run everything (ie. 2x VM's - SBS and a SQL/RDS). I also have the issue that the LOB software is fully supported by the provider, and they want full access/control of the SQL server.
My question is, is the following acceptable/do-able in terms of licenseing/supported configuration.
Physical server1 - Hyper-V (from prem addon license), VM1=SBS2011, VM2=SVR2008 as RDS (additional license)
Physical server2 - svr2008r2 and SQL from Prem addon.
Therefore license wise I would be purchasing SBS2011, Prem addon, SVR std, SBS CAL's, Prem CAL's, RDS CAL's
Any other suggestion or alternatives?
