WSUS - client computers have not reported back to the server

I received this error on the server.  Most of the computers in the office are new.  I used the //connect to add them to the SBS network but the computers never get added to WSUS.  Is there a manual way I can add these computers to WSUS?

Under Windows updates on the client computers it says "managed by your system admin" but when trying to check for updates it fails.  The only way to check for updates on the client computers is by selecting "check online for udpates with Microsoft Update" which bypasses the WSUS.
