I have a Win7 Pro PC. It can ping the server by name and by IP. The network settings are as follows:
IP: 192.168.1.140/24 (DHCP)
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS1: 192.168.2.2 (Internal DNS server)
DNS2: 65.32.1.70 (External DNS server)
Set to append [domain].local suffix.
If I go to IE and type http://connect/, I can install the program to join the domain. It will then guide me through the other steps (enter admin info, name of computer, assign users/account/permissions) and then I click restart. It "creates temporary data", completes successfully, then fails during "Connecting to the netowork." The error message provided is: "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted."
How can it not be contacted when I can ping the server and it can clearly use logon info to retrieve AD users for me to choose from?
I'd appreciate some help.
Thank you,
Dan
