I have been moving customers to SBS 2011 and have found they have a common problem. Everytime they have a server reboot it starts installing updates. The system is set to let the user choose when to install updates but it doesn't. We need to control when these updates occur so we can avoid 35 people sitting on their hands in the middle of the work period.
In HKey_Local_Machine\software\microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Setup
I located two keys:
SelfUpdateStatus = 0
SelfupdateUnmanaged = 0
I changed both of those from 0 to 1 but have yet to see if that takes care of the problem.
Will these changes take care of the problem?
Can anyone tell me the proper way to deal with this and bring update down times under the administartor's control?
