Exchange Server 2010 Cannot Be Installed

I am in the middle of installing a new system for a customer.  The existing environment is a MS Server 2003 Standard server with Exchange 2003.

I ran through the Migration Tool on the source server and created the answer file.  I then performed the installation in Migration mode and Received the errors:

Exchange Server 2010 Cannot Be Installed

Critical and security updates cannot be installed.

Incoming and outgoing e-mail for Microsoft Sharepoint Foundation are not configured.

I tried to research this issue, but it looks like there can be many different causes for this problem and after checking to see that I was different from the first few causes I looked into, I decided it might be best to reach out for help.

I do not have the error about "[REQUIRED] Access control list (ACL) inheritance is blocked " that many people have received.

It also looks like I have successfully completed becoming a DC as well.

The end of the Exchangesetup.log says:

The Exchange Server setup operation didn't complete.  More details can be found in ExchangeSetup.log located in the <SystemDrive>:\ExchangeSetupLogs folder.

I'm not sure why it is telling me to look into the ExchangeSetup.log for more details, when this is the file that I am looking in already.

I would really like to be able to solve this issue, restoring from backup would be difficult as the previous IT company is unwilling to share the backup systems password.  =(

Please advise, I can send logs or post them here as desired.  Thanks.
