The shares on a newly installed SBS 2011 Server can be seen, mapped and accessed for use on an older XP PC w/SP3 as well as on a Windows 7 Pro PC w/SP1 without difficulty. However on another very important Windows 7 PC w/SP1 only a Redirected shared folder is displayed with a comment of "offline" upon clicking on the Server's icon on the Network page so I am unable to map the shared resources on the server making this PC incapable of utilizing the Server effectively.
It has been suggested to me to install on this PC, as another user, one of the users on the domain member PCs that are OK and/or remove the troublesome PC from the domain and then have it rejoin the domain. I chose the order of these changes arbitrarily, so could only try the removal from the domain but upon the required reboot the user's password no longer worked nor was the alternate user on the PC available for logon. The built-in Administrator account had also not been enabled. To summarize I spent the entire afternoon attempting a recovery that would allow me to reenter Windows but the problem was only solved by forcing Windows 7 repair to run which returned the PC to domain membership and made the alternate user available - by the way logging on with that user also fails to see the missing Server shares. I am now enabling the built-in Administrator account before I try this removal from the domain again. Safe mode and Last Known Good Configuration did not solve the log on problem.
Can anyone suggest to me what might be happening on this PC so that the Server shares should not display? What resolution to this problem can be offered me? Also I have made sure that the users on this PC have FULL CONTROL permissions to the server shares of interest. Thank you in advance for any suggestions you can make.
