Hey guys
I'm facing an issue with a client's SBS 2003 SP2 server and trying to sync iPhones.
I've run through http://support.microsoft.com/?id=883380 using Method 1 to try and resolve the issue but to no avail.
A little backstory:
Yesterday in an attempt to fix an issue with w3wp.exe hogging memory, I followed the instructions here -http://forums.iis.net/t/1150494.aspx -
In doing so it seemed to cause everyone to stop receiving mail on their phones. I changed the settings back to what they were originally but it made no difference. Also when trying to view mail via OWA it would display as a directory, rather than an inbox.
I then followed the instructions listed here -http://support.microsoft.com/?id=883380 -
to reset the IIS virtual directories, and OWA is now working fine, but users can no longer access emails via their iPhones. During my initial attempts to fix the issue, I changed some of the Directory Security settings for the Default Website, and when I applied
the changes I believe it applied to the child directories too. So I believe this may be part of the reason why this is occuring.
As a side note also, I've compared settings with another client's SBS 2003 SP2 server and made the appropriate Directory Security changes, SSL changes to match the working server, but I'm still not having any luck.
I've pretty much followed everything in - This Blog but without any luck, I'm still experiencing problems.
The errors showing up in Event Viewer are
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Server ActiveSync
Event Category: None
Event ID: 3005
Date: 6/09/2012
Time: 8:49:19 PM
User: DOMAIN\USER
Computer: SERVER
Description:
Unexpected Exchange mailbox Server error: Server: [server.domain.local] User: [user@domain.com] HTTP status code: [501]. Verify that the Exchange mailbox Server is working correctly.
When I run the Remote Connectivity Analyser I get the following
Attempting the FolderSync command on the Exchange ActiveSync session.
The test of the FolderSync command failed.
Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it
Additional Details
Exchange ActiveSync returned an HTTP 500 response.
I've tried running the CEICW (I had to stop all non-Microsoft services to get this to work - it kept failing at Firewall then causing the HTTP SSL service to stop) but it still makes no difference.
At present, everything else seems to work, for example OWA, Remote Access etc, it's just the phones that are causing the problems.
I'd appreciate any assistance that you may have to offer, I've tried a whole range of troubleshooting steps, but perhaps I've missed something vital
Thanks in advance
David
