Best practices

Hello,

I am in the throes of setting up an SBS 2011 Standard server. The configuration is as follows:

1. Parent partition Server 2008 Standard R2 with Hyper V role installed

2. Child partition SBS 2011 VM

3. Child partition Server 2008 Standard R2 VM with SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard installed and joined to the domain (SBS 2011)

What are best practices for the following:

1. Backup of all three servers - (one physical server and two VMs)?

2. When to activate the OSs - after they have all been patched and/or when all the applications have been installed and data transferred from the old server (non-migration)?

3. Our anti-virus solution for the LAN is 'Trend Micro WFBS 8 Advanced'. How can I get the Server in (1) above to update from the SBS Server when it is not joined to the domain?

Many thanks for looking.

Mark
