I have a client that has been running SBS 2008 for 5 years. They are currently having performance issues that I am having trouble diagnosing. Their problems came to light because an application they run is very slow opening. During troubleshooting I noticed
that the shares are slow opening, refreshing, etc. Obviously there are many things that can be wrong that will cause this symptom. However when is go to the server and open the local folder where the share is mapped, the folder displays its contents without
hesitation. For example the share is mapped to W drive that the local path is C:\SHARES\APPS. W is slow and C:\SHARES\APPS is fast. Another interesting symptom of this is when I go to their secondary server that runs Windows 2003R2 the share displays its contents
without hesitation. Being a mapped drive or the UNC has no difference. So it leads me to believe that the issue is not network related. I have tried and read many posts that sort of sound right without any success. So I am looking for any and all advice. Thanks
in advance.
