Hello,
Little question about a migration I'm currently going through.
We have an SBS 2003 server with Exchange 2003 installed, but this Exchange server was never used (mail was hosted externally, POP3 connector is also not configured). We are now migrating to a new server platform with Windows Server Standard 2012 and the customer wants to start using his Exchange server.
I would prefer to start from scratch (domain-wize), but for several reasons, this is not possible.
I'm thinking of the option to uninstall Exchange 2003 from the SBS 2003 server (and forecefully remove the public folders using http://quack.me/2006/01/forcibly_removing_public_folders.php to make this possible) and then start with a 'new' Exchange 2013 on a Windows Server 2012.
Do any of you guys know if this is gone give any problems? I'm thinking of Exchange-attributes that remain in AD and may cause problems when installing Exchange 2013? Or should I stick to Exchange 2010 and do a 'standard' migration? Also, the SBS server should not brake during this operation, it has to keep running for about a month before I can decommission it completely.
Thanks,
Ben
