I dealt with certificate issues for the 2nd time in my life about 7 months ago. Now here I go with round 3 and it's driving me crazy.
Had to re-install SBS 2011 (same one I dealt with this issue on 7 months ago) from the ground up. But this re-install didn't go as expected. Absolutely "everything" was installed and I was not allowed to select what to install or in what order to install them. The main things of concern to me are Remote Desktop, Certificate Services, and IIS. They were all installed from the get-go.
So, set up my Internet website (locally managed). Then transferred the certificate installation package from users/public/downloads to my laptop. Installed the certirficates. Then from home, I can not connect to the website (RWA is "apparently" installed and set up) without a certificate error.
When I "view certificate" on my laptop, It shows issued by <servername> and issued to <servername>. I was expecting issued by <servername> issued to <websitename>. Are my expectations correct? If so, then how do I update the certificate distribution package? I have set up the RD Gateway with the self-issued certificate and it 'appears" to all check out OK on the server. Even ran the "fix my network" wizard to make sure things were okay. As far as I can tell, they are.
Ultimate goal here is to get a secure connection via RDP. But until I fix this certificate issue, I can't even get to that step.
