SBS 2011 Migration - when/how do files in Redirected Folders get transferred

Plodding through migration from SBS 2008 to new server running SBS 2011, following the migration guide and searching for help to overcome the inevitable hurdles along the way!

Now, the transfer of Redirected Folders (from the source server to the destination server) - I've created the folders using the instructions in the Migration Guide, and I've also updated the Group Policy Object. But in the guide it specifically says that the Robocopy command ONLy creates the folder structure (which it has done) and that the actual data is copied 'in a later step'. When? How? - I can find no mention of this in the migration guide. Does it happen automatically when the users login? Should I (can I?) transfer the data manually using Robocopy - in which case, what command should I use? (perhaps I could just use the same command as is used to move other shared data?)

Why is there no further clarification of this rather vital step?

Any help would be appreciated
