Hello,
I successfully migrated my SBS 2003 to SBS 2011 some time ago...apparently 35 days ago. The SBS 2003 server had shut itself down as expected and has been off for a number of days now. Everything on the SBS 2011 box is working as desired. However I started to get Event ID 1863 NTDS Replication errors which appear to be caused by the SBS 2003 server being off. I went back to the migration documentation and started reading the last steps regarding demoting the SBS 2003 server however it seems to be more geared towards leaving the SBS 2003 server as part of the domain and includes many more steps than I think would be necessary to completely remove SBS 2003 from the network. I shouldn't need to uninstall Exchange 2003 if I don't plan to use the old SBS 2003, should I?
So, bottom line, I'm looking for a short cut to demoting and removing my SBS 2003 from the network and eliminating these NTDS errors. What steps ARE necessary and what can be skipped?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Have a great day!
