Hi
i am about to set up a SBS2011 server for a client moving from a SBS2008 server. We are going for a fresh install.I am going to turn the old server into a 2008r2 box as a member of the domain
The client has Sage Line 50 software. Now when this was installed with sbs2008 the instructions were to install the software on the server, then allow it to import and process the data. then install the software on the client pc's.
This makes no sense, as the server never runs the software as the client pc's run the software and access the shared company.000 folder that is shared.
Surely all that is needed is a folder containing all this data to be shared on the network and the client installs to be pointed at the map drive?
does the server really need an install of the software on it?
does it serve any purpose?
What have other people done?
