Event 9782 Exchange VSS Writer completed ... with errors.

This is a standard SBS2011 running Windows Server Backup. There are three partitions on the internal hard drive. None are 'full' or even close (more than 90%). The backup drive is a 2TB external drive.

The C drive backup fails after ~16G of backup. The only thing in the even log was the two 9782 errors. This where the Exchange backup fails to clear the log files. There are two other volumes on the server and they backup without issue.

The first part of the backup runs a consistency check on Exchange and it completes without error.

I did change the logging to circular and unmounted then remounted the Exchange databases. This occurred quickly (less than a few minutes) and I question if the logs were actually cleared. Upon completion, I reversed the process. I did not try to backup with the logs in 'circular'.

There is no third party backup program. The updates run are Windows Updates. The system is fully patched.

I ran 'VSSADMIN LIST WRITERS'. There were no errors and Exchange is listed. I ran 'eseutil /mn' on both Exchange databases and again, there are no errors.

I need some suggestions on what to look for.
