I am in the throes of setting up a new SBS Standard Edition 2011 for a client. While setting up new users in the SBS Console I ran afoul of a problem in that I have not encountered in setting up a few other SBS 2011 servers. The wizard would not create the mail account and threw-up errors, though folders were created and the accounts were otherwise functional. I could manually create the mailbox in the Exchange Management Console and then login as the new user and all was right with the world, but it's not where I wanted to live, so I started digging a bit through related posts here.
I found some relevant posts and did a little follow-up. I then switched to my production SBS 2011 Standard server and tried to add a new user with the same result. This server has never experienced that problem, so something had gone sideways recently. It occurred to me that a couple of days back, Dec. 11, 2012, Microsoft released an optional update, Windows Management Framework 3.0, which like an idiot I installed in knee-jerk fashion without knowing anything about it. Suspecting that this was the culprit due to errors I found in the \Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Logs\adduser.log file, I uninstalled the update and re-booted. Sure enough, that solved the problem and full functionality has returned to the SBS Console.
I offer this as a little heads-up to others that may be experiencing the problem. May my pain serve as a warning!
