Server Cleanup Wizard fails for “Unused updates and update revisions”. I have tried multiple times but each time the Wizard times out and loses connection with the server. I then decided to manually remove 73GB of WsusContent and perform wsusutil reset. As follows:
- Stopped the Update Services service
- Deleted all the files and folders under the WsusContent folder
- Started the Update Services service
- Ran wsusutil.exe RESET
After over ten hours, nothing has appeared in the WsusContent folder and all Update Services Console Options show the following message:
"Cannot save configuration because the server is still processing an previous configuration change"
Sqlservr.exe is constantly using around 50% of CPU.
Wsusutil checkhealth give the following three errors in the Application event log:
- Event ID 10022, Source Windows Server Update, “The last catalog synchronization attempt was unsuccessful”
- Event ID 12002, Source Windows Server Update, “The Reporting Web Service is not working”
- Event ID 12032, Source Windows Server Update, “The Server Synchronisation Web Service is not working”
Also getting multiple warnings in Application event log:
- Event ID 1309, Source ASP.NET 2.0.50727.0, Event code 3001, “The request has been aborted”, Application Virtual Path: /ServerSyncWebService
I have restarted the server but the situation does not change.
I would like to avoid reinstalling WSUS 3.0 if possible. The server is otherwise healthy except for an expired self-signed certificate. Server will be migrated to Server 2012 Essentials early in the New Year.
Any suggestions, please?
