Synchronization Log Errors, missing emails, OWA goes down

I'm having some strangeness with Exchange and all though all three happen separately they seem to compound. (Server is SBS2011 w/ Exchange patched to SP2 RU3). SBS2011 is running in a  Hyper-V VM and was setup basically following this tried and true guide: http://blog.mpecsinc.ca/2010/12/sbs-2011-setup-guide-v100.html about 1 year ago. The system is fully patched (mostly because I thought some of these issues would be fixed by the recent SPs and RUs)

We are also running Forefront Protection 2010 For Exchange

1) People running Outlook 2010 will get many (sometimes 50+) messages in their inbox w/ the subject "Synchronization Log" and they say things like

30:40 Synchronizing server changes in folder 'Inbox'

7:30:40 Downloading from server 'server.domain.local'

7:30:40     The following message had an error and synchronization of it was skipped (0x80004005):

Followed by a bunch of Hex.

Most of what I find on these errors say to just ignore. That's fine, except when you get 50 of them all of the sudden.
Everyone who gets these also has either an iPhone, iPad or Android device syncing with Activesync. I mention that because a few articles seem to point to this being an issue with mobile devices but I can't find anything definitive.

2) We have caught a number of "missing" emails. Normally someone will look in their sent items and they can't find an e-mail they know they sent. My first reaction was that they probably deleted it but I've seen it happen now too many times for it to be end user. I've also confirmed the emails were sent by doing a message trace and seeing the message in another user's inbox. (Thus how I got the message ID to trace). The missing email also isn't available in sent items on their iPhone. But if we login to OWA (assuming it is working, see #3) the message is there. So it is in their mailbox store.

3) Outlook Web Access seems to just stop working. They will get the error message "A problem has occurred while you were using your mailbox" or they will simply be unable to reply to e-mails or make attachments. (With a generic red bar error message saying "A problem occured while you were trying to use your mailbox."

We will see #1 pop up every so often and it just gets worse. (Like 1-2 on Monday, 5-6 on Tuesday, 60 on Wednesday). As that happens I'll get more reports of #3. And since most people don't actively look at sent items, #2 is harder to track down but when we have seen it it has been when we are getting #1 and #3.

A reboot stops 1 and 3 but with #2, a reboot never brings the message back into Outlook / remote devices like an iPhone.

I've gone through the event viewer / administrative view as best as I can and filtered out the numerous errors that SBS2011 produces that are documented safe to ignore. There is nothing coming from Exchange / Exchange services. I've run the Exchange 2010 BPA including the performance baselines and no significant errors came out. (Your network driver is two years old?)

Thanks
