Hi,
I've been googling for an hour and getting nowhere. Situation is new SBS2011 installation, all updates, patches installed applied etc.
Configured SP foundation outgoing email server (using default server name which is an A record in DNS resolving to 127.0.0.1)
Set up a workflow to notify customers by email when I have created or updated an item relating to them.
Addresses internal to my organistaion get delivered fine but any external addresses disappear into the ether, never to be seen again. Now I'm guessing this is an anonymous relay issue. (The worst part is I had it running on my SB2008 box and don't have a clue how I did it then or whether it was ever an issue)
Now the general concensus is that a separate receive connector is required for these sort of situations, but the SBS box already has an internet receive connector set up for anonymous senders and as the SPF is on the same box it obvioulsy shares the same set of specifications, so I'm missing the point here.
Now please bear in mind I am a bit of a dummy and don't really understand any of this when trying to help.
The way I see it is either I need SPF to authenticate with the exchange server (aint going to happen form what I've found so far), or I need the exchange server to a relay from SPF, which I can't see why it doesn't or how to make it do it. The existing connector is already listening on port 25 on the IP address of the server and I don't see how I can run another connector alongside this as how would it know which 1 to use? Forgive my lack of understanding and please be gentle with me when replying.
