SBS 2008 - Unsupported fun

Hey All,

It's a been awhile since I've been on this site, work keeping me busy blah blah the usual.

Anyways first I want to start off with saying: What is discussed in this post is NOT a supported configuration by Microsoft and should not be used in any production environment. I don't take any responsibility should you decide to follow any instructions in this discussion.

Ok now the discussion. Per a clients insistence I have proceeded to plan out and perform a domain name change to their SBS 2008 server. First things to take into account 1) I amnot running on a production box. I mounted a backup in a lab, and testing everything there first. 2) I understand that in order to do this I will have to re-install exchange (as well as possibly every other database on the box) 3) I have taken a snapshot of the lab so I can rollback and perform this procedure as many times as I want :)

With the current TechNet articles online, I don't really need assistance with any of the steps that I think will need to be done, I just thought I'd post everything I'm doing up here and see the reactions and thoughts, if someone has a better way on performing this or any tricks they picked up over the years regarding re-installing sharepoint, sql, exchange, WSUS or fixing any of the SBS wizards (yes I'm expecting EVERYTHING to break :P ) please join in. I'll be done mapping out the procedure I'm doing later today and will post it back here. After that I'll performing the rename.

Cheers,

Greenlight.
