SBS2003 IIS continually crashing causing SMTP to stop working

I have a client with a SBS 2003 SP2 Server running Exchange  Version: 6.5.7638.1

I have setup MX Toolbox to monitor my SMTP and for months now I have been getting messages that Mail.clientname.com SMTP Unable to Connect to SMTP Host. I would log in restart IIS which restarts several Exchange services and things would be fine for another week.

In viewing the event logs, I am getting 5 services that are erroring out at the same time.

It has slowing gotten worse, it started happening twice or 3 times a week. Then every 10 minutes or so and now it is happening every few seconds.

These are the 5 errors in Event Viewer under System that occur ever time:

1. Event ID: 7034 The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 16 times. (since last reboot of the server).

2. Next is Event ID: 7034 The Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 16 times.

3. The next one is Event ID: 7034 The Microsoft Exchange POP3 service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 16 times.

4. Event ID: 7034 The Microsoft Exchange IMAP4 service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 16 times.

5. Finally Event ID: 7031 The IIS Admin Service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 16 times. The following corrective action will be take in 1 milliseconds: Run the configured recovery program.

This seems to stop incoming email into the server. when I restart IIS and in turn the Exchange services the emails begin to download. Fortunately we have a secondary MX Record at our ISP. So, we are not loosing emails, just delayed in receiving them.

I read one article suggesting re-installing service pack 2 to correct a problem with IIS, but it hasn't done anything.

Any help would be appreciated!!
