ok so, basically here's the scoop: i downloaded windows 8 pro (i know, stupid, right?) and ended up getting a refund etc. etc. because it did not run well on my new alienware m14 r2 laptop. so i had to re-install windows 7 from the cd and all of the drivers which was a HUGE pain in the ass to do, but turns out the alien FX isn't installed and not even showing up in the Command Centre(which i had to re-install) i tried the media driver or whatever and that did not work either. it has apparently been tied to a problem with Microsoft Framework 3.5 which im getting an error about while attempting to shut the computer down:
