I have read a number of articles, forum posts, KB's etc and am after clarification on whether the following is possible.
Our client has an SBS 2003 server. We are looking to perform a clean installation of SBS 2011 with a new domain name.
I am aware that two SBS servers cannot coexist on the same "domain" past the default grace period of 21 days.
What I'm interested in knowing is whether two SBS servers with different domains can coexist on the same subnet.
It appears that this is possible, as long as DHCP is turned off on one of the SBS servers in question - but there appears to be confusion and misinformation as to whether this is the case. With many people stating a point blank "no" and others stating it is possible, just ensure DHCP is turned off on one of the two SBS servers.
If this isn't possible, the alternative is to create a separate subnet and route between them - however this isn't the preferred option.
Cheers
Ash.
