So I recently migrated from SBS2003 to SBS2011. The system came up with the failed installation, but everything appeared to be working. We use the pop3 downloader and had some issues with pop passwords, so did not complete the mail configuration. We installed everything else and migrated the mailboxes and file shares etc. Then we went to migrate the pop3 downloader and the problems started.
Searching on the net we discovered the "SBS console repair " procedure and failed on the location of the SBS.msi (this is still a mystery). We extracted the dim on the DVD to view the files and have clicked on the "sbssetup" application whcih immediately rebooted the server. Now, when we attempt to log into the server, only the "adminstrator" account appears to be able to log in. All other admin accounts get a blank blue screen after "applying desktop" via both console and RDP.
The administrator gets an install screen up fill with the SBSAnswerFile details. From the old server, I changed the name of the file and now I get teh option to do a clean install or migrate. If I cancel the install, the machine immediately reboots and brings me back to the same position.
The client workstations are still working with access to exchange and SQL databases along with all other functionality.
Is there a registry entry that can be modified to stop this behaviour? As mentioned, I still have access to the old server and can remotely access registry and files.
Thanks.
