In trying to resolve a blue screen issue I was going to add a 2nd hard drive into my Small Bussiness Server 2008 computer and set it in a Raid Mirror. However, no knowing that it needed to erase the data on the good drive, when the warning appeared in the Raid setup (on bios screen) I cancelled the operations.
Then, on reboot I am receiving error message. "Windows Failed to Start because of a missing or Corrupt Registry"
This is mostly likely not true, but I had a backup of the registry that I saved on the desktop so I booted to the recovery mode run the registry update, and Bootrec.exe with /fixmbr and again with /fixboot. However, on rebooting, I get the same error.
I then boot to the recovery mode again and tried to run the "Sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=C:\windows". However, this returned an error msg: "Windows Resource Protection could not perform requested operation.
I then ran chkdsk, although I had ran chkdsk and a Western Digital disk scan error and found no errors.
By computer has a ASUS M2N68-AM SE2 Motherboard, I have a 1TB western digital SATA drive and the OS is Small Business Server 2008. I've been running this computer for 2 years and just recently started to getting "Stop D1 nvstor.sys" Blue Screen failures which is when I started this journey.
Can anyone assist with the Windows failed Start????
Thanks
