Errors 1091 and 4099 have started on my Vista SP2 clients

I hope someone can help me figure out what's going on here.

My configuration consists of an SBS 2008 SP1 machine running as a DC and running SQL Server to support RMS. This system has been stable for three years, and I have made no modifications to it other than running Windows Update. I have four clients, two running Windows XP and two running Vista SP2.

A couple of weeks ago, I started getting the following on the two Vista SP2 machines:

I have run gpudate (with and without /force) on both machines, which in both cases reported that Group Policy had been updated successfully.

DCDiag reports no problems.

I did some research, and was lead to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955248 which looked like it might help, but when I downloaded the hotfix (359020_intl_i386_zip.exe) and ran it on the clients, I was told that this hotfix did not apply to my system (which I sort of expected). I haven't tried running this on the DC, because the DC isn't getting the errors. I tend to be very paranoid about making changes to my DC because if my DC dies, my business goes with it (at least until I can get everything up and running again). I would prefer some sort of understanding as to why this problem has appeared out of thin air in addition to how to fix it.

All of the other discussions about this problem seem to revolve around changes to IPSec, which I haven't done.

There are no group policy errors in the Eventlog on the DC.

I have learned the hard way not to let stuff like this go. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on here?
