I am
trying to configure outgoing email on an SBS2011 test server. I use a smart host (No-Ip.com) which requires use of non-standard port 3325 for their service. My ISP is Verizon FIOS and they are very clear that they block port 25. ("Outbound port
25 blocking will be applied to FIOS and High Speed Internet services that use dynamic IP addresses. If you subscribe to a static IP address service, you will not be affected.") I have a dynamic IP address. One of the recent posts on this forum
(http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/smallbusinessserver/thread/080c60fd-f787-4841-9070-f855b061029f) indicated that SBS 2011 Exchange requires port 25 to be open in both directions, even if you override the port in the smarthost.
Do you know if it is possible to use a smart host which requires a port other than port 25 with Verizon FIOS? Or am I just wasting my time and should consider getting a business account at Verizon (sort of overkill for my test which is based in my house)?
