kb2839229 causes ISA Services to fail on SBS 2003 Premium Edition with SP2
Install KB2839229 and restart.
The server than cannot connect to the internet or internal LAN. (typical with ISA Server not running).
Application Log states Event ID: 1000
Faulting application mspadmin.exe, version 4.0.2167.887, stamp 462cc523, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.4937, stamp 4ecbcdd1, debug? 0, fault address 0x0001a1c1.
And Event ID: 14109
The ISA Server Standard Edition cannot run. Either the server is using more than 4 processors, or it is configured to use the Active Directory service. Use the source location 100.379.4.0.2167.909 to report the failure. Contact Microsoft (R) Corporation for more information.
I the only workaround that I have found is to uninstall KB2839229 and restart to get the services operating again.
NOTE: The servers in question are dual XEON with a total of 8 cores.
I do not want to do the Edit the Boot.ini file and reduce my usable cores down to 4 as in this post:
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
