I migrated an SBS 2003 server to SBS 2011. At one point, the mail was still on the legacy machine, and the users were able to access their mailboxes using Outlook. I then moved the mailboxes to the new mail server instance (Exchange 2010). Now the users can't access their mailboxes, though nothing else had changed. I am sure that this is to do with incorrect extended permissions on the mailboxes.
So, here is an interesting thing. If I create a new user, this issue doesn't arise. In fact, no issues at all.
Here are some of the symptoms.
The existing users are prompted for a user name and password, and despite this, still can't access their mailboxes.
I have checked for inheritance in adsiedit under folder hierarchy, but it is ticked already.
When I run get-mailboxpermission -Identity username, it shows that the user IsInherited = False and Deny = False.
Any ideas? Getting desperate, 4 days without email for about 15 people. Ouch!
Cheers,
Gavin
