Configuring a public website on an independent webhost after remote access is configured on SBS 2011

Hello. We have a properly-working SBS 2011 Standard with remote access configured. Remote access, exchange, and webmail are all working well. Remote web access is set via the subdomain, remote.OURDOMAINNAMR.com. We wanted to configure a public access website with the same domain name to be hosted on a separate and independent webhost. To do that we've added an A record pointing the OURDOMAINNAME.com to the IP address of our webhost with our domain registrar (godaddy.com). That worked, except we lost email connection as a result of the addition of the record. A godaddy.com representative informed us that the loss of email functionality was due to the fact that the XM record pointed to @ (the IP address of our webhost), as opposed to the SBS's IP. My question therefore is how to configure a public address without losing SBS functionality. Thanks in advance. Aviv
