SBS 2011 Standard What is a bare metal restore?

I have a server I am backing up and then we are moving to another location.  I am not sure of the best way to do this.  I am testing on another box but it is not the same hardware as the Dell Server I use for SBS 2011.  We use Exchange on the SBS 2011.  I am new to IT admin.   

1) Can bare metal restore restore to any box?  How?

2)  If I restore files and folders, which ones do I restore?

3)  Any sites for new IT admins?
