Hi All,
I have a SBS server where SQL is becoming unaccessible from workstations regularly (~once a week) for a custom business application. When the server becomes unavailable, I see the following error message in the Event Viewer:
Event ID 5586
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible.
On further inspection, I have found some errors related to the Sharepoint SQL database and an unable to start the SQL service for Sharepoint.
When I try to start the SQL Service for Sharepoint, I get the following error:
Log Name: Application
Date: 6/6/2013 12:32:44 PM
Event ID: 9003
Task Category: Server
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Description:
The log scan number (303:320:1) passed to log scan in database 'master' is not valid. This error may indicate data corruption or that the log file (.ldf) does not match the data file (.mdf). If this error occurred during replication, re-create the publication. Otherwise, restore from backup if the problem results in a failure during startup.
This server has absolutely no data in Sharepoint. We do have regular backups, although my concern is this issue has been going on for so long that we may not have a good backup from before these errors started happening.
I know it would be problematic to uninstall/disable Sharepoint, so I would like to just start over with a clean database. Can anyone recommend the best way to do this?
Thanks,
Dx
