Hi,
I have a Win SBS 2003 R2, without ISA installed. The server has two NICs adapters, one is a dedicated intranet LAN, while the other one sometimes used to connect to internet (via Wireless Router) and sometimes to connect with another workstation.
Just few days ago, I tried using the Connect to the Internet wizard in theInternet & Email option in the Server Management console. I successfully connect the server to the internet using the aforementioned internet LAN mentioned above.
But afterwards whenever the server restarted there's this Service Control Manager error message on top of the Windows Ctrl-Alt-Del login:"At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details."
I checked the Event Viewer and take a look at the System error log there's this error:Source:Service Control Manager, Event:7023, the error detail says: "The Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service terminated with the following error: The requested resource is in use."
I then checked the System error log and found: Source:IPNATHLP, Event:32009, and the detail info of the error:"The Windows Firewall/ICS service couldn't start because another program or service is running that might use the network address translation component (Ipnat.sys). This can be occur when Routing and Remote Access is enabled. If this is the case, you
must disable Routing and Remote Access before the Windows Firewall/ICS service can start."
I tried to launch Windows Firewall and got this message: "Windows Firewall cannot run because another program or service is running that might use the network address translation component (Ipnat.sys)."
I checked the Remote and Routing Access, turns out it is running. Do I need to turn it off completely? Do I really need it? Because I can't find an option for the Remote and Routing Access to turn off just the NAT setting. If I do have to turn it off,
will it start again whenever the server reboot?
Thanks in advance for hearing and helping me out.
Dhow here.
