Hello all.
Background:
I’ve got an SBS 2011 Standard server, with Folder Redirection active for all users. All clients are Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
One of my users recently got married, so I used the AD Rename function to make the appropriate change to her account name (not just the display name, but the actual account name.
Problem:
Ever since the change, the user's account takes an inordinately long time to log in (5+ minutes), and a check of Event Viewer indicates that her folder redirection is broken—which seems explains why login takes so long.
Specifics:
Upon further examination of the server, I see that a folder reflecting the user's new account name has been created for this user inside RedirectedFolders. But in the Event Log on the client, I see eight different "502" errors of the kind shown below each one referencing a different folder that's supposed to be redirected-- My Documents, My Music, My Pictures, My Videos, Desktop, Start Menu, Programs, and Startup-- indicating a failure to copy items from the redir folder bearing the user's OLD account name to the one with the NEW name.
If I try to access the redir folder bearing the user's new account name while logged on as her from her PC, I can do so and I see the folder structure for redirection listed within (i.e. Desktop, My Documents, Start Menu). If I drill down in to My Pictures, for example, I see all the subfolders that had been redirected, but they're all empty. In other words, default and user-created folders made the leap to the new redir folders, but no files did.
Also, the user's account seems to still be synching to the redir folder with the previous account name-- I created some test files on the user's desktop and found them in that old folder.
What is the best way to correct this issue so that the files and folders previously redirected are successfully copied to the new redir location, as well ensure than any new stuff is redirected to the new redir location?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
Joe
