Hey all!
I have a quick question and I'm hoping someone here can answer it. In one week I am to implement an entirely new domain to a local companies infrastructure. I will be pulling out their existing Small Business Server 2008 and installing a new (virtual) Server 2008R2 Server. I plan on just removing every PC from the current domain, renaming all of the profile folders (on the local PC), installing the new servers ADDS roles (plus extras) and then joining them all to the new domain and then migrating over all of the profile information to the newly created profile folder. I will then be migrating over the LOB applications as needed.
Can someone tell me if this is going to be the correct way to do this? I am not needing any of the DNS, DHCP or ADDS stuff from the SBS 2008. I want to implement an entirely, brand new, domain with a different name. That being said, I want to make sure that doing it this way won't affect any of the workstations on the domain.
Thank you for the responses in advance!
