Hi,
One customer has an old SBS2003 server on 172.21.1.0 (255.255.0.0) subnet and the server is to be replaced by a new SBS2011.
At first we didn't know the limitations regarding class B networks, so the first attempt did not succeed, and the new server didn't want to communicate with the source server so the migration wizard assumed the source server not to be prepared. (but it was, we only saw green checkmarks!)
As we prefer to do a "normal" migration do I have a few questions:
Can I simply change the source network to 255.255.255.0 (; all hosts in the network are on the same /24 subnet actually) and then expect everything to go normal, or not?
Or can I expect problems? Of course there are no DNS/DHCP entries outside the 172.21.1.0 subnet which I plan to limit to /24.
If this subnet (limited to /24) remains unsupported with an automated migration, what are my alternatives besides implementing a completely new subnet?
Hope to hear from anyone soon!
Greetings from Holland!
