I have an ongoing issue with SharePoint failing on SBS 2008 server. We can reinstall SharePoint from a backup but there a couple of potential problems bullet pointed for you convenience:
- The SharePoint first suffered an issue when there was an attempt using the SBS wizard to move the databases which failed midway through the process. . The databases were successfully copied and moved to another disk manually and the site was working
- Following an update a day later and little too much tinkering by a third party who installed a hotfix, the site has stopped working with all sorts of database related errors.
- We have a backup from before the data base was moved, the update and the hotfix were installed. Our question is if we run a restore, the databases would be presumably returned to their original location. Would SharePoint understand this and if not, what steps do we take to return SharePoint to the default installation?
