I have a new server that has 32 GB of RAM, 5 – 2TB hard drives, that I need to configure for 3 servers. 2 Virtual and one on the hardware. According to my understanding of the licensing for SBS 2011 with the Premium Add On pack, this is what I am considering to setup:
Would the best configuration of the hardware be to setup 2 drives for the OS in a RAID 1 (mirrored) configuration and 3 in RAID 5 for the data?
Is installing all OSs to RAID 1 drives, both hardware and virtual, acceptable and the best thing to do?
Because of how I read the licensing: I should put the SBS Business Premium Add On, (running Server 2008 R2), running Hyper V as the base system on the hardware in order to be able to setup the Virtual Servers?
Once that is up and running, setup Hyper-V and install the SBS 2011 with Exchange as a Virtual Server?
Then setup a 2nd Virtual Server 2008 R2 Server running SQL?
Finally installing the third Virtual serverfrom the SBS Premium Add On license as a Terminal Server?
Am I correct with this configuration? I would greatly appreciate any feedback on this!
Any additional issues that I should be aware of would also be appreciated, like how I should determine RAM and Hard Drive space to the virtual systems.
