Hi there,
We have SBS 2008 Server with Exchange 2007 SP3. I use SBS Management Console to manage the users. I had disabled a couple of accounts in the past as the employees left the organisation.
Later on i found out that the user mailbox is still active and was receiving emails. I enabled a disabled user and checked it myself. I reviewed all the users in AD and wanted to delete the disabled users to free up licenses. I deleted the disabled account
from SBS Management Console. It prompted me to delete the mailbox and I accepted it.
Unfortunately, I deleted an Active Room User account. I now need to get it back as they have lost the old bookings for meetings.
I have currently created a new mailbox to keep the booking going, but I would like to get all the old ones back.
Troubleshooting Done:
1) I checked Exchange Management Console for Disconnected Mailboxes and didn't find anything there.
2) I tried the "Clean-MailboxDatabase" command. It didn't work. Nothing showed up. I had deleted 15 Users and nothing was there for retention. I checked the Mailbox retention period and it was 30 days. I waited for the Online Defrag to run and thought the users might come up after Online Defrag is complete. But no luck.
3) Then I tried Get-MailboxStatistics . It only showed the existing Mailboxes. No Disconnected mailboxes were displayed.
4) Then I thought of doing a test to check the behavior. I created a test account. a) Logged into a Pc using the credentials. b) sent out emails from the account. Replied back to the emails. c) Disabled the User Account. d) Sent emails to the disabled account. No bounce back. emails delivered. e) Disabled the User Mailbox from Exchange Console. It prompted me something about losing the link with the existing user account. I went ahead. f) Checked the "Disconnected Maibox" and found the mailbox listed there. g) Reconnected the mailbox to the user after enabling the user.
Which made me think that the User mailboxes have been deleted completely.
Is this a normal behavior?
Is there a way I can get the deleted mailbox back apart from using Recovery Storage Group.
Please help me!
Thanks
Regards,
Prayag
