I had an existing install of sbs 2008 on a client machine. This weekend, the raid controller failed. According to Intel, they no longer make the raid controller in question, so they sent a replacement, which is a different model.
The raid install went fine as far as the hardware is concerned, all the drives are present, and windows starts to boot, but very quickly reboots.
My assumption is that the windows install on the drive does not have the correct driver for the replacement raid controller.
Is the any way to slip the driver in (to the current OS install on the drive) without a re-install of the OS? I have read up on DISM, which is not applicable to SBS 2008, and pkgmgr, which should work, however, the documentation on the pkgmgr is a little vague for what I need to do.
Does anyone know an easy way to do this? Is ther a way I can drop the inf file somewhere in the windows directory?
I am currently trying to locate an identical raid controller from other vendors, but the issue here is time really.
Thanks for your assistance.
