SBS 2011 Parallel install on same subnet as existing SBS 2003 installation

Hi,

I've been asked to install a new SBS 2011 server for a client.  Unfortunately this is to replace a server which is out of disk space and has never been patched since install in 2004.  Managed to get the patches on there, but becuase of various dodgy uninstalls of firewall, anti-spam / av and a whole host of other issues, it is not possible to migrate the domain.  Twice tried, twice failed.

I am now performing a parallel install, and will be setting up the users on the new server and migrating email, files folders etc, plus creating a file structure.  Problem I have is that I can't continue the install without an internet conection, and the only connection available is via the same subnet and router as the existing SBS domain.

Question is, will they see each other and start screaming, or can they run parallel on the same subnet (as they are different domain names) without interfering with each other.

Only alternative is to take the server away and configure at our offices (and the client wanted it onsite so they could learn about basic admin tasks)

Anyone tried and succeeded at this or failed in a blaxe of glory?
