I support an number of SBS servers including 2003,2008 and 2011, all of which use their native sbs backup wizards to portable USB drives.
I have a number of issue that I need to address, but at the same time need to keep things as simple as possible, so the ideal would be a product that can cover all bases.
I'm regularly asked about cloud backups which I generally dismissed as impractical due to comms, a good proportion of my clients are in rural areas with nothing more than 2meg adsl available.
The best solution I've come across so far is Acronis. Firstly I like the fact that their website is informative, and actually tells you something about the software,- the majority just seem to say "its simple, it works, buy now".
So the plus points I've identified to the acronis offerings...
- A reasonably priced SBS bundle for the single SBS servers to allow image/block level backup.
- bare metal and file level recovery
- wide range of storage support for onsite
- additional server options + workstations
- cloud option - with option to physically send first seed.
- universal restore option so I can retain a disater recovery server to deploy to any customer
- its all part of the same product/interface
The down sides
- costs soon rack up if you add the options.
So does anyone else use it? opinions? are there better alternative?
many thanks
