Hosting small business server 2003 at remote site

We currently have a small business server 2003 set up at our office with 7 computers we use the server as a file server, for AD authentication and for exchange although we only use 3 email addresses so don't really need that and could probably get away with just using a hosted exchange service or even POP3 for the 3 people who need email.

Anyway my issue is that our site is out of the way and we don't have permanent power so the site is run during the day using generators which means that we can't access any files or email out of office hours as the server has to be shut down at the end of each day. Also we had a problem with heavy snow recently and couldn't get to the office for two days and not being able to work remotely was a pain.

What I'd like to do is relocate the server to my home and have it always powered on and then the office will remotely access the server so I was thinking of settings up a new router in the office and my home which supports VPN so the office users can work exactly as they are now without anything changing as far as they're concerned.

Can anyone comment on whether they think this is do-able, maybe someone out there already does something similar and can comment on any issues they had that we might need to consider also.

Thanks

Mike
