I'm starting to get frustrated with this, though this is an experiment to see if this can work. I happy to accept defeat if I know why it's failed.
First of as all I Know I'm asking for trouble as I'm using a desktop Motherboard, but feel there should be little problems as the network Adaptor has been recognised with no issues and the hard drive (not using raid yet) has been seen and infact it's almost been running.
I get to the Expanding and Installing files screen with the progress bar at about 10% and it hangs there and this is consistent every time I do the install.
Once I have let it run for over night and the screen was there the next morning.
More than once I lost patience and restarted the machine, It happily loaded in to the server to tell me Installation had failed, to check the error logs and resolve any issues then to re-install. But the only error as such I can find is the I get DCprom started....
in the SBSsetup log file as the last entry, obviously my restarting is the problem here.
One other time I left the machine for a number of hours probably 4 and when I returned It had a blank screen with just the mouse pointer on it. I couldn't get into safe mode or anything however I accessed the hard drive and found the log which basically indicated it was restarting and DCPromo was a success.
The last time as I’m writing I have just heard the Server restart and it has now been on the Microsoft Corporation screen for the last 5 minutes and suspect it might go on for some time. I’ll check the logs when It finally gives up. But suspect it will be the same as before just above but will wait and see.
I am sort of confused, I would like to know where I can get logs in particular for the start-up up of the server, to help me work out what's going on or any suggestions to why it's not finishing the install.
