Hi,
I've just restored sbs2003 from a remote office to another server... testing backup/restore works. The server was purchased at the same time as the live box and is identical hw wise.
Everything appeared to be fine until I tried joining Win 7 machines to the domain. I have the same issue with XP as well. I can't ping the server by name or ip, but I can ping the client from the pc's and servers.
I'm using the same ip range that the remote office use. I've ran through the intertnet setup wizard, which completed fine once I disabled 3rd party av software.
Ran netdiag + dcdiag but no issues there. When I run nslookup from the clients to the server, I receive the ip under 'address', but 'server' is unknown.
DHCP and DNS appears to be ok from my limited knowledge.
The server has had server 2003 sp2 applied as well sbs2003 sp1.
Resolved a number of issues presented in SBS2003 BPA. Applied a reg fix after finding a known network issue which occurs after server 2003 sp2 applied to sbs2003.
Applied kb926505 vista, 7 - sbs compatibility patch
I've removed the av software.
Hooked up devices to a switch as well as direct to router, but same issue.
Firewalls turned off on machines involved. ISA server not installed.
Setup client pc ip settings manually. Only DNS entry is the sbs servers ip. Tried the sbs server and router ip as the default gateway.
Starting to go around in circles so after spending a few hours googling and applying fixes so any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Mark
