Hi there,

I've hit a massive brick wall,

This morning when i came in the server was in a halve booted state, stuck at "Applying Computer Settings".

It is stuck there for about 2 hours, and then was getting stuck on "Applying User Settings"

Once it got here the client could access there folders again.

I then booted up safe mode and checked that the IPv6 was enabled as i read that was the main cause on getting stuck there. both network cables IPv6 was enabled.

I followed Below Instructions to get past "Applying User Settings"

  1. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP
  2. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Multi-string Value.
  3. Type DependOnService, and then press ENTER.
  4. Right-click DependOnService, and then click Modify.
  5. In the Value data box, type CRYPTSVC, and then click OK.
  6. Exit Registry Editor.
  7. Restart the computer.

I then gets past "Applying User Settings" but then gets stuck on "Internet Explorer Branding Policy", On removal of that registry key again i was able to login but "explorer.exe" didnt load, nor if i open if in task manager, im able to open "control.exe" but as soon as i open mmc, msconfig, or any of the administrator tools the screen freezes and the window doesnt want to close, i have logged out and renamed the admin profile to admin.old from a different computer and when i try and log back in again it gets stuck at "Internet Explorer Branding Policy".

The server is on a Domain and also hosting there Exchange and Data storage

Ive now gotten the server to "Personalized Settings" and it just hangs there

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Rainer Tenner
