SBS 2011 Standard, I tried to enable folder redirection. Out of 5 win7pro and 3 XPpro computers, only 2 win7 and 1 XP computer/user were sucessful. In trying to get the other computers/users working, and searching posts on this, I tried various
permission settings. Unfortunelty, due to a post somewhere that I probably should not have believed, I also tried changing permissions on the User folder, not just the redirected folders subfolder. I think I've got permissions pretty
messed up.
(after backing up desktop/my doc's folders on the client computers that worked), I disabled Redirected Folders in the SBS console, and thinking to start fresh, I deleted the three user folders & subfolders from the User folder on the SBS. After
trying various permissions and rebooting several times (SBS and clients) now only one user folder was recreated and seems to be working as I would expect, which is my account, which has Domain Admin rights. Now the other two that *were* working
have not recreated their user folders on the SBS.
I need to set permissions correctly, but it seems that I'm missing something, for example, an instruction might say "set the following persmissions...." but it doesn't say whether it is for this folder only, or all subfolders also.
If someone could provide a link that tells exactly what I need, that would be much appreciated. Or, at least, could someone tell me what permissions the User folder needs to have, then I could at least elimanate the User folder as the problem.
One other question, when I had the 3 (2 win7 & 1 xp) working, looking in windows explorer, there was a padlock (I guess) on my username, but not on the other two, any idea why?
Thanks, Steve
